Voluntary Registration Council (VRC)
The VRC been established for Healthcare Science staff seeking
registration with the Health Professions Council.
Association of Ophthalmic Science Practitioners (AOSP) and Retinal Screeners (BARs) are founder members of the VRC. Professions who meet HPC criteria may be registered in 2009.
AOSP is one of the founding members of the Voluntary Registration Council, which is the vehicle that will take aspirant Health Care Science Professionals through the regulatory process and ultimately registration with the Health Professions Council.
AOSP has adopted the Foundation Degree in Ophthalmic Science and Technology as the minimum level of qualification for its members. Through AHPO, AOSP is involved in the development of BSc and Postgraduate educational programmes as well the AHPO Annual Continuing Education Programme.
